Childcare Program

PYVO Childcare projects in Ghana offer international volunteers chances to support disadvantaged kids through play, teaching, and daily care at centers in Kumasi, helping with education, development, and running activities, while also supporting local staff with chores, fostering a positive environment, and contributing to community welfare. These programs, often for ages 18+ (some for teens too), focus on improving early education and well-being for children from low-income families, often run year-round with flexible durations, and sometimes involve fundraising for essentials like food and shelter.

Role as a volunteer:

  • Play & Activities: Lead sports, arts, crafts, music, and games to boost development.
  • Education: Teach basic English, help with homework, and support local teachers in small classes.
  • Daily Care: Assist with feeding, laundry, cleaning, and general nurturing.
  • Environment: Paint classrooms, repair facilities, and build playground equipment.
  • Community Support: Help with fundraising for center needs and support local staff.

Who Can Join:

  • Anyone interested, with no prior experience often required (local coordinators guide you).
  • Open to gap year students, career breakers, and families.
  • Age requirements vary (16+ or 18+), but some programs cater to teenagers
